About Us

We've been in Austin for over 5 decades.

Our roots in the meat industry date back to at least 1892, when were were part of the local butchery association.

In the 1920s, our family opened a butcher shop downtown called University Meat Market. Located on Lavaca Street just south of where the AT&T Education and Conference Center is now, the business eventually ended up on East Avenue, and when plans for Interstate 35 became clear in the 1960s, eminent domain forced the family to move the shop yet again.

We then opened Lone Star Meats and then changed the name to Longhorn Meat Market.
We custom cut to order.
Just tell your butcher what you need!

Longhorn Meat Market prides itself on being Austin's purveyor of all things beef, pork, poultry, and wild game.

Longhorn Meat Market operates a state inspected & regulated facility, Plant# 749, with Texas Health Inspectors in our facility every weekday. Our family business has been providing Austin restaurants with quality products.
